Autumn is the Perfect Time for a Williamsburg Vacation

Capitol at Colonial Williamsburg

Looking for a fabulous place to go on a Fall vacation? Look no further than Williamsburg Virginia, which was named the #1 Family-Friendly vacation spot in North and Central America.

Williamsburg is a story-book recreation of the past, with Williamsburg attractions like Jamestown Settlement, Historic Jamestowne, Colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown Battlefield and the Yorktown Victory Center. The America’s Historic Triangle Ticket allows you access to all of these historic sites, and save you money as well.

Colonial Williamsburg is a living history museum located on over 300 acres. With the purchase of Colonial Williamsburg tickets, you'll have access to historic buildings, restored structures, character reenactments, hundreds of interpreters, and unique museums and eateries that bring the Colonial era to life. The primary museums include the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum, the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum and Basset Hall. Christiana Campbell’s Tavern, King’s Arms Tavern and Shields Tavern, which I have dined at and highly recommend the ale-potted beef entree, are a few 18-century dining options.

The reenactments at Colonial Williamsburg are something you have to experience during a Williamsburg vacation. I highly recommend the Revolutionary War City program, as well as the Cry Witch program. Cry Witch is the perfect event for a Fall trip too, as it is set at night, it a candlelight courtroom and brings to life the trial of Grace Sherwood in 1706. The audience is invited to question the witnesses, weigh the evidence, and determine the guilt or innocence of "the Virginia Witch." Both of these programs are unique, with Cry Witch being something that stands out as a true Colonial experience.

During a vacation in Williamsburg, you can also enjoy modern attractions like those found at Busch Gardens. During the Fall, Busch Gardens is opened Friday-Sunday and they offer events like Wild Days, Howl-O-Scream Oktoberfest and Christmas Town. Purchase your Busch Gardens Williamsburg tickets today to explore the park, themed in an old-Europe style.
