Highland Games, Dancing & Bagpipes Highlights of Virginia Scottish Festival
Williamsburg, Virginia will host the 35th Annual Scottish
Games and Festival October 5 and 6, 2012.
The Virginia Celtic Gathering and Highland Games will feature
entertainment, food, athletic events and dancing. Many of the events will be located at Rockahock
Campground, with evening festivities held at the Holiday Inn Patriot.
Here is the full schedule of events planned for the Virginia Scottish Games:
Friday, October 5
Friends of the Festival Reception at 6pm
Celtic Celidh at 8pm
Saturday, October 6
A full day of fun is scheduled on October 6. The Shamrock, Thistle and Gorse Pan-Celtic
Music Group, the X-Band, the Fighting Jamesons and Brother will perform on the
main stage while hands on activities for the entire family are very popular at
the festival and include workshops, the session tent, the tug of war, haggis
hurl, and children’s athletic competition on the parade field.
Competitions featuring the Highland Heavy Athletics,
Highland Dance, Harp, and the Regional Scottish Fiddling Championship will be
held.
Tim McLeod, the festival piper, returns to perform the
Scottish pipes throughout the day.
Vendors will also be available, representing Ireland,
Scotland, and Wales.
Tickets for Saturday’s events are $12 online and $15 at the
gate (for adults).
