Gardens Williamsburg transforms into The Dark Side of the Gardens during
October. Get your fill of haunted houses, scare zones, and scary shows. The
park is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the month.
October 4: Williamsburg Gallery Crawl
Climb aboard deluxe chartered buses and let them take you
around town to visit Williamsburg’s best art galleries, all while enjoying
great wines and cheese. Tickets are $40 per person and include a collectible
wine glass. Tickets available online.
October 6: Yorktown Wine Festival
From noon-6pm at Historic Yorktown sample wines from some of
the best wineries in Virginia. Tasting tickets cost $25 in advance or $30 at
the festival. You can also opt for the dinner event which features eight
Virginia wines plus a four-course dinner for $65 per person. Tickets may be
purchased in advance at these locations.
October 6-7: An Occasion for the Arts Art Show & Music
Festival
The streets around Colonial Williamsburg will be the scene
for the annual An Occasion for the Arts outdoor
art show. There will be something for everyone with youth art exhibits and
activities, live entertainment, fine arts and crafts, and food and drinks. From
10am-5pm Saturday and Sunday.
October 13: Yorktown Market & Fall Festival
Celebration
Riverwalk Landing will have hayrides, a hay maze, pumpkin
patch, children’s activities, and live music during the annual fall
celebration. The event is free and runs from 8am-3pm.
October 13-14: 10th Annual Italian Festival
The Colonial Italian American Organization (CIAO) is having
their annual Italian
Fest Saturday and Sunday from 11am-6pm at Walsingham Acadamy in
Williamsburg. Sample classic Italian cuisine, wines from Virginia wineries,
plus there will be arts and crafts, kids’ activities, and entertainment.
General admission is $5.
October 19: Yorktown Day
Yorktown Battlefield will have special ceremonies,
demonstrations, and a parade to commemorate the 231th anniversary of the
victory at Yorktown.
October 20-21: Yorktown Victory Celebration
Enroll in “A School for the Soldier” and drill with wooden muskets, apply tactical
skills during mock combat, and learn about a soldier’s sleeping quarters and
provisions during the Yorktown
Victory Celebration. There will be military life and artillery
demonstrations Saturday and Sunday.
