Go Behind the Scenes at Colonial Williamsburg
Starting January 2, 2013, guests at Colonial Williamsburg
can “Pull Back the Curtain” and go backstage.
That’s right. You’ll be able to
get an inside look at this historic site by meeting with curators,
conservators, archaeologists and actors.
It is a rare opportunity to ask the experts how they set the stage and
bring history to life.
Backstage Events and Tours:
Ceramics Up-close: Step into the ceramic storage vault to learn more about rare
ceramic forms from Europe, America and the Orient. Docents are on hand to
answer questions during this behind-the-scenes experience.
Go Behind Our Tavern Doors: Discover why taverns are the place to be on a cold winter’s
day. Come inside and step back in time as the Raleigh Tavern comes to life with
a variety of entertainments for “Drive the Cold Winter Away.” Enjoy lively
conversation along with games, music, dance, or scenes from plays.
Backstory: Explore the hidden stories behind the objects on display,
such as paintings, ceramics, textiles, and more. Discover who made the object,
and why—as well as how it wound up in the Colonial Williamsburg collection.
